During the design of tanks containing fluids it is particularly important to consider the cyclical effects of loading and repeated unloading, as well as the environmental conditions in which it will operate not forgetting the potential for degradation of polymer through normal contact with chemicals such as cleaning agents, waste water and/or mineral oils etc. Rota Design also specialises in the design, analysis and structural verification of multiple layer and composite wall tanks and chambers.
By the very nature of plastic materials, they creep under load over time, eventually failing through local stress cracking. An understanding of all the factors affecting the design in service is necessary in order to design a tank or container which will not fail during its projected lifecycle.
